The Simek family has been farming in Kelsey since 1926 when Stanley and Bessie Simek arrived from Chicago. Stan and Bessie homesteaded a farm and raised four children there. John was the youngest child and he and his wife Violet purchased the farm from his parents in 1953. They started dairy farming with 18 brown Swiss cows and some young stock. Soon after they changed to Holstein cows, increased their heard, and have been dairy farming ever since. John and Violet raised five children and many foster children on the farm instilling the values of a strong work ethic, love of family, and care of the community. After nearly a century of farming in northern Minnesota this tight knit family wants to share the joy of fall harvest time with your family.
